Bipasha Basu in Ben Kingsley's film on Taj Mahal
Bipasha Basu will be the second Bollywood actress to play an important role in Sir Ben Kingsley’s Mughal epic.
Sir Ben’s movie on the making of the Taj Mahal and the last days of the fifth Mughal emperor Shahjahan is getting bigger and bigger. The film, to be co-produced by Kingsley, will have the British actor himself essaying the role of Shahjahan while Aishwarya Rai will play his wife Mumtaz Mahal.
Now, it is learnt that Sir Ben wants Bipasha Basu to play Shahjahan’s daughter Jahan Ara Begum, who looked after her ailing father after he was imprisoned in his old age (by son Aurangzeb) in a citadel from where he continuously gazed at Taj Mahal, the monument of love he had got built for his love Mumtaz.
It is learnt that Kingsley talked about this project with Bipasha when they came together to host the new Seven Wonders event in Lisbon in July this year.
Bipasha has reportedly agreed to be a part of the project but her dates are yet to be sorted out.
The movie will go on the floors early next year and will be shot in Agra and Fatehpur Sikri.
